After School Arts Club

Our innovative themed curriculum has been designed to complement and expand upon EYFS framework, approved by a leading educational psychologist and led by experienced staff. Every session is different, in keeping with the theme of the week, be it a book, concept or cultural event.

It’s not just childcare! Our enthusiastic and talented leaders are passionate about the arts and teaching kids, helping them develop their confidence, emotional literacy and social skills in an enjoyable way.

We offer a variety of engaging activities and games that allow kids to socialise and have fun, unwinding from their day, all whilst learning new skills through performing arts.

After School Arts Club provides a safe and fun environment for kids to explore their creativity, Our sessions are structured around six key activities:

Drama

Crafts

Singing

Movement

Music

Performance

After School Arts Club

The programme provided by After School Arts Club is exactly what children in Reception and Year 1 need to extend their skills in all curriculum areas effectively. The EYFS Curriculum is at the core of the After School Arts Club ethos and programme which allows children to embed their learning after the school day. Rather than an after school group that is simply ‘child care’, this allows children to learn key creative, social, emotional and academic skills at the same time as being cared for by highly skilled staff.

As an Educational Psychologist, I have been consulted with from the start of the concept to allow the programme to develop according to the optimum learning principles. Using creative art modalities such as drama is essential to building skills such as confidence and creativity in young children, whilst also developing the imperative skills of listening, turn-taking and working collaboratively with peers. By focusing on these skills, the After School Arts Club provides children with incredible learning opportunities alongside an extension of the school day which is vital for so many working families.

WHO ARE WE?Our facilitators are selected from a variety of artistic and childcare backgrounds. All team members hold enhanced DBS checks and training is provided in first aid and safeguarding. As an activity club we hold indemnity insurance and are in the process of registering with Ofsted.

Natalie Lewis

Natalie is a working mum, who needs after school care in order to work a full day, but was frustrated with the lack of choices and availability of options. A photographer and art dealer by training and trade, she has a passion in arts she is keen to pass on. Recognising the difficulties schools face with time and funding for arts education, Natalie saw this as an opportunity to offer an educational childcare setting with a creative edge.

Abi Lloyd

Abi Lloyd trained in Performing Arts from a young age which inspired her then studying this at university. There, alongside exploring performance and becoming part of the Performing Arts industry, she also found a love and passion for the arts being fundamental in the development of children, which was then what her dissertation focused on. From the age of 16, she began teaching a mixture of drama, dance and music to children and teenagers from the ages of 3-18, alongside doing kids parties as a princess performer and running craft tables. Through this work, she enjoys seeing children develop skills such as building confidence and inspiring creativity, as well as allowing children the opportunity to interact socially. Alongside her teaching of children and her performing in the Performing Arts industry, she further developed her childcare skills by working as a nanny. After School Arts Club really looks at what Abi is passionate about – using Performing Arts to positively impact and develop children.

Natalie Lewis

Natalie is a photographer and art dealer by training and trade. She graduated with a 1st in Visual Communications BA (Hons) from Birmingham City University in 2010. She has a passion for the arts that she is keen to pass on, whether it is through crafting, dance, drama or music.

Recognising the difficulties schools face with time and funding for arts education, Natalie saw this as an opportunity to offer an educational after-school childcare setting with a creative edge, that helped parents’ after-school conundrums and also brought revenue to schools.

Natalie met Abi at the pub (true story!) and their love for the arts and crafting brought them together thanks to Natalie’s daughter, as well as originally, Abi’s babysitting!

Our

Session structure & weekly themes

Each week of term we will cover a different theme to complement the EYFS syllabus. This method of teaching builds on what the children are learning in school, developing confidence and skills as well as communication. We cover topics such as: space, dinosaurs, the sea, animals, fairy tales, people who help us, and much more. Each day continues the week’s theme through a variety of games, activities and crafting projects. This means that children can do one day a week or take part in all sessions.
